Skin Acne
Imagine yourself waking up one morning and your face being covered with pimples all over..! what a dreadful sight it would be! Wouldn’t you be scared? Would you step out of the house with any confidence left? People would call you all sorts of names such as spots or the rocky face. Well, lets just leave these thoughts in the virtual world.

What Is Acne ?
Acne, is a long-term skin disease that occurs when hair follicles are clogged with dead skin cells and oil from the skin. It is characterized by blackheads or whiteheads, pimples, greasy skin, and possible scarring. It primarily affects areas of the skin with a relatively high number of oil glands, including the face, upper part of the chest, and back. The resulting appearance can lead to anxiety, reduced self-esteem and, in extreme cases, depression or thoughts of suicide. Genetics is thought to be the primary cause of acne in 80% of cases.During the initial years of growth, acne is also related to change in hormonal levels in both the sexes.
Caused Due To Hormones
Hormonal activity, such as occurs during menstrual cycles and puberty, may contribute to the formation of acne. During puberty, an increase in sex hormones called androgens causes the skin follicle glands to grow larger and make more oily sebum. Conversely, people who lack androgenic hormones or are insensitive to the effects of androgens rarely have acne. An increase in androgen and oily sebum synthesis can be seen during pregnancy. Acne can be a side effect of testosterone replacement therapy or of anabolic steroid use.
Caused Due To Diet
The relationship between diet and acne is unclear, as there is no high-quality evidence which establishes any definitive link. High-glycemic-load diets have been found to have different degrees of effect on acne severity. Multiple randomized controlled trials and nonrandomized studies have found a lower-glycemic-load diet to be effective in reducing acne. There is weak observational evidence suggesting that dairy milk consumption is positively associated with a higher frequency and severity of acne. Few studies have examined the relationship between obesity and acne. Vitamin B12 may trigger skin outbreaks similar to acne (acneiform eruptions), or worsen existing acne, when taken in doses exceeding the recommended daily intake.
Caused Due To Stress
Few high-quality studies have been performed which demonstrate that stress causes or worsens acne. While the connection between acne and stress has been debated, some research indicates that increased acne severity is associated with high stress levels in certain contexts (e.g., in association with hormonal changes seen in premenstrual syndrome).
Laser Treatments For Acne
Laser treatments are the fastest way to deal with scars and hyperpigmentation left behind when acne heals, but can also be beneficial for inflammatory acne. However, it’s not known to be particularly helpful for non-inflammatory comedonal acne. The primary benefit of laser therapy, as well as the primary drawback of laser therapy, is that is has very precise effects. Laser therapy for acne scars and brown spots first arrived in dermatologists’ offices about 1980. The early continuous wave neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG) laser was used to heat the basal cell layer underneath the skin to stop collagen production. Tissue above the treated layer of the skin charred and sloughed off, initially growing back without scars or pigmentation. Scars always returned, however, about a year after treatment with this early kind of laser.
